Wayne P. Lammers is a Japanese-to-English translator working out of Portland, OR, focusing mainly on literary and cultural materials. Born in Ohio and raised in Japan, he has been bilingual since childhood. After completing a PhD in Japanese language and literature, he taught at the university level for a number of years before going independent. He was translation editor for Mangajin magazine during its run in the 1990s, and this subsequently led to his writing Japanese the Manga Way. His other work has included manga and anime, film subtitles and movie scripts, rakugo, plays, short stories, novels, memoirs, and a classical romance.
